The History department organised a visit to the “Secret Nuclear Bunker” at Kelvedon Hatch, Essex for a group of Year 8 pupils. One of the pupils had recently won a Jack Petchey Award and opted to use his reward prize towards the visit to the nuclear bunker for a small group of his friends. The pupils had the opportunity to explore the nuclear bunker, visiting the communication rooms, the medical bay, the ventilation room and walking along the eerily quiet corridors and passageways. It was a great day out and is set to help the pupils further appreciate the risk of nuclear annihilation when they study the Cold War in GCSE History.
