Forest Gate Students reach finals of London talent search!

Tuesday, 22 May 2012

On Saturday 12th May, youth charity, XLP, staged the Newham semi-finals of their 2012 cross-London talent contest.

Following two days of auditions where many eager students came forward, XLP representatives selected seven of our students to compete against the best talent from schools in the borough.

Well known in school from her many performances at events such as Prize Day and the opening of the climbing wall, Rachel Keen (Year 9) sang solo, as did newcomer Hannah Aremu (Year 7) performing Birdy’s “Skinny Love” unaccompanied. Alice Kerfoot (Year 9) gave a display of contemporary dance whilst school rock band, Overcast, headbanged their way through “Numb” by Linkin Park. Overcast features Brandon Walsh, Ivan Repishevski and Arun Dhingra from Year 9 with Milo Gorman from Year 7. Excitingly, Overcast were selected to go through to the finals at the Mermaid Theatre, Blackfriars in London on Saturday 7th July.
